Nasudnong Kongreso sa Pinulongang Sugbuanon
From May 23- 24, 2014, the USC Cebuano Studies Center in cooperation with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Department of Education (DEP-Ed) will host the much-awaited Nasudnong Kongreso sa Pinulongang Sugbuanon: Mga Hagit ug Kaugmaon. The activity will bring together stakeholders, scholars, experts and educators from diverse backgrounds in facing the challenges of MTBMLE.
The congress theme, Mga Hagit ug Kaugmaon, highlights the fact that Cebuano encodes knowledge in many subfields of the sciences, art and the humanities. Teachers need to know how to tap into these areas to fully document the unique worldview we hold in the Cebuano community. Otherwise, opportunities to explore such topics would be lost.
The congress will feature presentations, panel discussions and demo teaching on this multi-subject theme. A highly esteemed roster of speakers include Dr. Carmelita Dulangon, Dep-Ed Regional Director, Commissioner Jerry Gracio of Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino, Dr. Erlinda Alburo of Akademiyang Bisaya Foundation, Dr. Angel Pesirla of the Cebu Normal University, Engr. Jes Tirol of the University of Bohol and Hon. Adelino Sitoy of the Cebuano Language Commission, Mr. Rolando Morallo of Bisdak Magazine, Leo Lastimosa and many others. The demo teaching sessions – presented by experts – are designed to give congress participants practical information to guide their teaching efforts. Instructors are from the Department of Education who have designed the textbooks themselves in the areas of MAPEH, Civics, Cebuano and Math.
The Nasudnong Kongreso sa Pinulongang Sugbuanon: Mga Hagit ug Kaugmaon will be held on May 23-24, 2014 at the Albert van Gansewinkel Hall, Hoerdmann Building of the University of San Carlos downtown campus. Regular registration at PhP 2,500.00 for the two-day seminar is going on at the Cebuano Studies Center, LRC Building in the Talamban Campus.
