NRCP Announces a New Division Chair for the Humanities
Dr. Hope Sabanpan-Yu, director of the University of San Carlos Cebuano Studies Center, has been named the new chair of the Division of the Humanities of the National Research Council of the Philippines. When she begins her two-year term this April, she will be replacing current division chair Dr. Adelaida F. Lucero, professor of comparative literature at the University of the Philippines – Diliman.
A regular member of the NRCP, Dr. Yu’s current research is on the compilation of extant Cebuano songs with music transcription and analysis. In her new position, Yu says she looks forward “to addressing the challenges of FIRe (Fourth Industrial Revolution) in advancing the division’s research agenda and on developing the most effective ways to educate the new generation.”
Another priority is to ensure that NRCP continues to attract the best scholars in the arts and humanities. She also plans to help the division recruit brilliant and committed individuals at all levels.
