Hinashasan: A Workshop for Young Writers
The University of San Carlos Cebuano Studies Center, in association with Mamugnaong Anak sa Dagang (MAD), is now accepting submissions for Hinashasan: A Workshop for Young Writers, to be held online, from April 9 to 10 (Friday and Saturday), 2021. The aim of this workshop is to discover and cultivate promising young literary talent from the Visayas and Mindanao. Slots shall be reserved exclusively for writers from or currently enrolled in schools in these parts of the country who are twenty-five (25) years of age or younger.
Interested applicants may submit a suite of three (3) to five (5) poems or one (1) five- to eight-page short story written in either English or Cebuano. Entries must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1-inch margin on all sides, double-spaced, and must not bear the author’s name.
Applicants are required to submit their resume with a scanned 2 x 2 ID picture. A statement of intent providing a short background of their literary interests should accompany the application.
Submissions must be sent as attachments in MS Word format with the subject header format “Hinashasan_[Applicant’s Full Name]_[Genre: Poetry or Fiction]” (example: Hinashasan_Juan dela Cruz_Fiction) to the following email address: tjlcs.submissions@gmail.com.
Twenty (20) slots are allocated for the workshop fellows.
Deadline for submission is March 19, 2020 (Friday). The final list of fellows will be announced by the end of March.
