The USC Cebuano Studies Center with the sponsorship of the National Commission for Culture and Arts is pleased to announce the recipients of the fifteen (15) fellowships for the Subaybaktas Literary History Writing Training Workshop on June 18-20, 2015 at the Dingman Conference Room, University of San Carlos (Downtown Campus), Cebu City.
The fellows from Luzon are Kristian Sendon Cordero, Jasmine Nikki Paredes, John Iremil Teodoro, and Francis Luis Torres. The participants from the Visayas are Hannah Marie Aranas, Ian Rosales Casocot, Joanalyn Gabales, Grace Marie Lopez, Trizer Dale Mansueto, April Anne Moncada, and Haidee Emmie Palapar. The fellows from Mindanao are Adonis Ramos Enricuso, Rey Luis Montesclaros, Chanda Pearl Simeon, and Cecilia B. Tangian.
The training workshop will bring together literary historians and scholars with research interests in the regions to discuss approaches to writing regional literary history. Taking inspiration from National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera who challenged scholars to trace the various roots and routes of regional writing by foregrounding the eventfulness of specific texts and the textuality of dates and events, Subaybaktas endeavors to push the boundaries of the literary and emphasize the contingencies of history by mapping the ideas and imaginings of the regions through a variety of discourses.
The workshop will be led by Professor Emeritus Dr. Resil B. Mojares. Joining the roster of panelists/speakers are Dr. Erlinda Alburo, Prof. Merlie Alunan and Dr. Madrileña de la Cerna and Dr. Hope Sabanpan-Yu.
